What is an Energy Audit?

An energy audit is a process of assessing how much energy a building consumes and identifying ways to reduce energy consumption while maintaining or improving building performance. The audit involves analyzing energy bills, inspecting the building's equipment and systems, and identifying areas where energy is being wasted. The audit will typically include recommendations for cost-effective measures to reduce energy consumption, such as improving insulation, upgrading lighting and HVAC systems, and replacing inefficient equipment. The goal of an energy audit is to help building owners and managers save money on energy costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve the comfort and health of building occupants. We'll provide you with a comprehensive report that includes any issues or concerns we find, so you can make informed decisions about your property.

Residential and Light Commercial Energy Audit

During the audit, a Be Smart energy professional will visit your home and conduct a series of tests and inspections to identify areas where energy is being wasted.

The auditor will inspect all areas of the home /or business, including the attic, walls, floors, windows, doors, and heating and cooling systems. They also evaluate your appliances, lighting, and water usage habits.

The auditor will use specialized equipment to measure the efficiency of your home's insulation, air leaks, and ventilation systems. They may also use thermal imaging cameras to detect areas where insulation is missing or air is leaking.

Once the audit is complete, the energy professional will provide you with a report outlining their findings and recommendations for improving your home's  or/ business energy efficiency. This report may include suggestions for upgrading your insulation, sealing air leaks, upgrading your heating and cooling systems, or replacing inefficient appliances and lighting.

Overall, a residential energy audit can help homeowners and business owners save money on their energy bills, reduce their carbon footprint, and improve the comfort.
